Professor Yehuda Carmeli is the founder and head of the Israeli National Institute for Antibiotic Resistance and Infection Control, located at the Tel Aviv Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel. He is also Professor of Medicine at the Sackler Medical School at Tel Aviv University.
As an avid researcher, Prof Carmeli’s research interests lie in the epidemiology of hospital-acquired infections and antibiotic resistance. He is the recipient of multiple research grants, including six large-scale grants sponsored by the European Commission in the field of hospital epidemiology and antibiotic resistance. He has published over 350 research articles, including ones in Nature Microbiology, Lancet Infectious Diseases, and Lancet Global Health, among others.
Prof Carmeli received his MD degree from Ben Gurion University in Israel and his MPH degree at Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his residency at Hadassah Medical Center, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, followed by a fellowship in medicine at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA. He also completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.

Dr Kingbherly Li is an infectious disease specialist and visiting staff at the Section of Infectious Diseases at the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center in the Philippines, where she is also Chair of the Hospital Infection Control Committee. At the College of Medicine, Chinese General Hospital Colleges, Dr Li holds the title of Assistant Professor.
As a sub-investigator, Dr Li has co-published research on COVID-19 in the Philippines, multidrug-resistant Gram-negative infections in the Philippines and HIV.
Dr Li is a fellow of the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and secretary of the Philippine Hospital Infection Control Society.
Dr Li completed her Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the Philippine General Hospital in 2019. Prior to that, she completed an internal medicine residency at the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center.
